Wedding Dress Trends for 2012

Trends2012

With 2012 now upon us, it is time to examine the beautiful wedding dress trends we are seeing this season to help you in your pursuit of your dream dress.

Without a doubt, the predominant themes we are seeing this season are flirtatious, full bodied, romantic dresses that play with texture and colour using oversized flowers, vintage inspired accessories and beautiful beading.

Decorative Belts

Seen towards the end of 2011 and extending into the 2012 season, a significant trend is the use of the ornamental removable belt that allows the bride to bring their stylish individuality into their wedding look. This is a vintage inspired trend that is often paired with a splash of colour. Bring that wow factor to your dress with a coloured vintage inspired removal belt.

Illusion Necklines

The Illusion Look is a sheer overlay often used to soften the strapless neckline. Frequently termed the “strapless dress with coverage”, this completes the vintage look of a modern dress but adds a hint of romantic intrigue.

Long Trains & Veils

Long trains and veils are a big statement piece this year. Coupled with a full- bodied layered skirt, this trend is both romantic and dramatic and will make your photos truly incredible. See Vera Wang’s Spring 2012 Collection at www.verawang.com

Soft Coloured tones

In are the blush, apricot, lavender, ivory and dark antique creams. This trend has no doubt been inspired by Reese Witherspoon’s gorgeous Monique Lhuiller wedding gown:www.moniquelhuillier.com

Lace Sleeves

The most coveted trend of the season is the creation of lace sleeves, inspired by non other than the Duchess of Cambridge who brought elegance, romance and vintage modernity in her awe inspiring Alexander McQueen wedding gown.

Oversized Floral Detailing

Oversized flowers cascading down a full bodied skirt is a personal favourite look of the season.  Brides have been playing with this floral trend whether it be by wearing statement pieces in their hair, or having floral organza detailing flowing down the wedding gown. We are most fortunate to have this incredible look currently at Savvy Brides in the breathtaking Amsale Bijou Gown.
